Election Information

Vacancies within the UN-NYG Core Team have emerged. Detailed information can be found below.

All Core Team Members are expected to liaise with other organisations and partners, as needed within their respective roles. The Core Team Members also handle correspondence relating to their Core Team roles and are expected to maintain the role in accordance with the UN-NYG statute, with the expectation that the officer will remain in the position for at least one calendar year.

Candidate nomination deadline: October 30


Election process
  • After the nomination deadline, candidates will be contacted by the UNNYG team to submit a 90 second short-video pitch in support of their candidacy.
  • Candidate video pitches will be posted on the UNNYG website for the community to see.
  • An online vote of UNNYG members to determine the new officers will be held from November 11 to 22.
  • Newly elected officers will be announced on November 25.

VACANCIES

President

The President shall:

  • Preside at all meetings of the Core Team;
  • Establish the strategic vision of the organization, and oversee the implementation of this vision;
  • Prepare the Annual Report and submit it to VICREC;
  • Serve as the representative of UN-NYG in interaction with other organizations, local or international;
  • Serve as official spokesperson for the group at events or meetings;
  • Handle the list of members and corresponding contact details;
  • Promptly inform VICREC if there is a change in the executive committee;
  • Exercise all powers and perform all duties normally incident to such offices.

The expected time that you would ideally require to spend will be 6 hours per month.


Programme Manager

The Programme Manager shall:

  • Develop main activities that will form the basis for the organization;
  • Implement short-, medium- and long-term activities as they are planned;
  • Cooperate with President and Vice-President in establishing the strategic direction of the organizational development;
  • Cooperate with the Communication and Liaison Officer in establishing and developing partnerships;
  • Develop and support other activities as deemed necessary.

 The expected time that you would ideally require to spend will be 6 hours per month.


Treasurer

The Treasurer shall:

  • Collect all monies given to the UN-NYG. Collect potential dues (if they are introduced by the Annual General Meeting);
  • Develop and review UN-NYG Sponsorship plan, application forms, and seek to raise funds for the Group either through one-off or sustained sponsorships;
  • Deposit group funds in the official Bank Austria account and manage the designated bank account;
  • Keep the book of accounts of the group and prepare the books for any potential audit of group funds;
  • Pursue and seek out opportunities of funding, sponsorship or partnerships for events, trips, conferences or other relevant events as needed;
  • Draft and finalize a Treasurer’s report when requested by the President;
  • Sign or countersign withdrawal or deposit of funds of the group;
  • Arrange for payment of expenses owed by the group when necessary and upon approval to justify such payments;
  • Develop and support other activities as deemed necessary.
