Election Information

Vacancies within the UN-NYG Core Team have emerged. Detailed information can be found below.

All Core Team Members are expected to liaise with other organisations and partners, as needed within their respective roles. The Core Team Members also handle correspondence relating to their Core Team roles and are expected to maintain the role in accordance with the UN-NYG statute, with the expectation that the officer will remain in the position for at least one calendar year.

Candidate nomination deadline: September 18


Election process
  • After the nomination deadline, candidates will be contacted by the UN-NYG team to submit a 90 second short-video pitch in support of their candidacy.
  • Candidate video pitches will be posted on the UN-NYG website for the community to see.
  • An online vote of UN-NYG members to determine the new officers will be held from September 25 to October 9.
  • Newly elected officers will be announced on October 15.

VACANCIES

Vice-President

The Vice-President shall:

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities of the President in his/her absence;
  • Be responsible for elections;
  • Assist the President in the preparation of the Annual Report and planning of upcoming activities;
  • Oversee membership of the UN-NYG and implement measures necessary to increase membership;
  • Assist the President in developing the strategic version of the organizational development;
  • Oversee implementation of the projects and programmes of the organization;
  • Develop and support other activities as deemed necessary;

Liaison Officer

The Liaison Officer shall:

  • Handle and lead external correspondence of the UN-NYG as business takes place, in conjunction with the communication officer as necessary;
  • Maintain existing official contacts and establish new relationships and partnerships with other associations focusing on nuclear, energy or sustainable development at the international level;
  • Implement online and offline outreach instruments in cooperation with other members of the Core Team;

Mentoring Coordinator

The Mentoring Coordinator shall:

  • Serve as the Manager of the IAEA-UN-NYG Mentorship Programme;
  • Organize mentoring activities and events for participating UN-NYG Members;
  • Recruit and match together mentors and mentees, assembling a mentoring programme team as necessary;
  • Develop and support other activities as deemed necessary;

Administrative Officer

The Administrative Officer shall:

  • Record and keep minutes of each meeting, sharing minutes with other members of the Core Team;
  • Regularly collect data on new young staff in the IAEA from MTHR, communicate with newcomers and update the mailing list accordingly;
  • Maintain and update UN-NYG profiles in social media channels;
  • Coordinate and organize UN-NYG events and meetings
  • Serve as focal point for cooperation with Vienna Interns Organization and other intern groups
  • Develop and support other activities as deemed necessary;
