On November 18, the UN-NYG convened its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the VIC, bringing together members to reflect on the organization’s achievements, discuss strategic goals for the upcoming year, and introduce leadership updates. The meeting was an important milestone in UN-NYG’s journey, showcasing its commitment to fostering professional development and strengthening its community of young nuclear professionals.
Throughout 2024, UN-NYG made remarkable strides in advancing its mission. Membership grew significantly, reaching a total of 738 members, including 98 new members who joined the network this year. The organization successfully hosted a variety of events and initiatives that fostered collaboration and professional growth. Partnerships with key entities at the Vienna International Centre, such as WiN IAEA and INMM, flourished, while collaborations with international Young Generation Networks in Hungary, Austria, and Belgium further expanded the organization’s global presence. These achievements underscore UN-NYG’s vital role in uniting young professionals in the nuclear field.
A key highlight of the AGM were the elections for leadership positions. The elections saw Federico Verly elected as President and Amelia Martin as Vice-President, both with unanimous support. Their leadership is set to guide the organization into another productive year.
Looking ahead, UN-NYG outlined its priorities for 2025, focusing on strengthening its mentoring and networking initiatives. Plans include organizing more field trips, hosting high-level panel discussions, and expanding the career database to better serve its members. The organization is also committed to fostering a sense of community by reviving monthly gatherings, such as the popular “Happy Hour” events. These efforts aim to build stronger connections among members while providing meaningful opportunities for professional development.
The UN-NYG extends its heartfelt gratitude to all members who actively participated in the AGM, shared their insights, and contributed to the discussions. Their engagement and dedication continue to drive the organization forward. As UN-NYG sets its sights on 2025, it remains steadfast in its mission to empower the next generation of nuclear professionals and strengthen the global nuclear community.
