On September 5 and 6, our UN-NYG members had the exceptional opportunity to visit the Incident and Emergency Centre (IEC). This immersive tour provided a firsthand look at the Centre’s operational area, where our members learned about the complexities of nuclear and radiological emergencies, and how the IAEA prepares and responds to such critical situations.
During the briefing and Q&A session with the IEC Director and senior experts, participants explored key aspects of the Centre’s work, including the legal frameworks that underpin international emergency preparedness and response efforts.
The visit was a great success as it offered invaluable insights into the IAEA’s critical role in global safety, deepening participants’ understanding of EPR and fostering stronger collaboration between the UN-NYG and the IEC.
