On June 21, UN-NYG partnered with the World Institute for International Security (WINS) to hold an official reception for young professionals at CyberCon ’23: the International Conference on Computer Security in the Nuclear World. A mix of conference participants from around the world were present, as well as UN-NYG members working in the VIC.
WINS Programme Manager Álvaro Acevedo explained the importance of building a network of young people in the nuclear industry, especially in nuclear cybersecurity, a field that is continually evolving and increasingly important. After quick remarks by UN-NYG President Owen LeGrone and Liaison Officer Barbora Kollarova on the mission of the UN-NYG, former Vice President Mitchell Hewes discussed how the IAEA had helped him advance his own career in cybersecurity. Attendees were then free to mingle and enjoy a delicious repast.
